Embodied carbon refers to the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions that are emitted from the manufacturing, transportation, installation, maintenance, and disposal of all man-made materials. So, while carbon is a greenhouse gas itself, there are others that are being put into the atmosphere due to the production and use of materials. So embodied carbon is a catch-all term for a products impact on climate change.
