This 1-hour interactive online course discusses the use of steel in design and construction, with the primary focus of the design segment relating to design of buildings, and not entailing design of the myriad of other things in modern society that are made from steel. We will start with a look at the methods of manufacturing various types of steel. The resultant physical characteristics of different types of steel will be examined to understand those applications where the use of different steel is recommended. Techniques for proper use and erection of steel in buildings will be discussed, in conjunction with design considerations. There will be a multiple-choice quiz at the end of this course.
