This program will focus how the standards development process, specifically ASTM, helps to set the foundation for performance of building materials. It will include an overview of how standards are developed and then implemented through the code and also third-party product certification programs for code compliance. The program will then focus on how these standards impact Chapter 14 of the International Building Code and Chapters 3 & 7 of the International Residential Code. The programs will also include a short highlight on the application of wind standards with hurricane performance to ensure more resilient buildings.
