It is important to have an up-to-date residential construction code addressing the design and construction of one- and two-family dwellings and townhouses to protect the health and safety of the public, as well as provide affordable housing. This seminar covers the critical changes within the 2024 International Residential Code. Changes to building, energy, mechanical, fuel gas, plumbing and electrical requirements are discussed.

Objectives
  • Identify the key changes between the 2021 IRC and the 2024 IRC, specifically to building, energy, mechanical, fuel gas, plumbing and electrical requirements and provisions.
  • Explain the differences between the current and previous edition for participants to learn which code changes impact their use of the code when they adopt the 2024 IRC.
  • Identify changes in organization and code requirements, including if the change is an Addition (new provision to code), Deletion (removal of a code provision), Modification (a modified provision), or a Clarification (a more detailed provision) to the 2024 IRC code.
  • Identify the applicability of design, plan review and inspection requirements so that participants can apply and use the code appropriately.
