Part 5 of this 6-part series will provide information to assist building officials during the plan review process on the proper evaluation of structural loads per the 2024 International Building Code® (IBC®) and the IBC-referenced 2022 ASCE/SEI 7 Minimum Design Loads and Associated Criteria for Buildings and Other Structures (ASCE 7-22). This presentation covers the determination of design ground accelerations, site class and the seismic design category of a building or structure, along with the various methods of analysis and their applicability for regular and irregular buildings and structures. Also discussed are seismic design requirements for building structures, nonstructural components and nonbuilding structures.

The following publication is recommended to ensure success in the course:
  • Recommended - 2024 International Building Code®(IBC®)

  • Time Zones: Classes may be noted in a time zone different than yours, please take note of the time zone and how it may impact the start time in your area.
