Effective Design of Buckling Restrained Braced Frames
Buckling restrained braced frames are a valuable tool in providing good seismic performance. The system has gained popularity in many applications, including in areas of moderate and even low seismicity, due to the highly controlled and predictable behavior, and the correspondingly straight-forward design methods required for the system. This presentation cover the behavior of the system, the design requirements, considerations for effective design (including coordination with brace manufacturers), and innovative applications.
