The 2013 edition of the California Building Code (CBC, Title 24) will become effective January 1, 2014 and contains numerous amendments related to public schools and hospitals. Public schools and hospitals in California are under the authority of the Division of the State Architect (DSA) and the Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD), respectively. This web seminar provides an overview of the significant amendments found in the DSA and OSHPD adopted structural provisions in the 2013 CBC as it relates to new and existing school and hospital buildings. These provisions are denoted in the CBC with a DSA-SS and OSHPD banner, and where amendments are significant, separate A chapters contain the amendments, such as structural chapters 16A, 17A, 18A, 19A, 21A, and 22A.
