Energy Efficiency Certificate Sticker (1 packet of 25)
The International Energy Conservation Code® (IECC®) and the International Residential Code® (IRC®) require a permanent energy certificate for residential buildings. This requirement applies to detached one- and two-family dwellings and multiple single-family dwellings (townhouses) as well as Group R-2, R-3 and R-4 buildings three stories or less in height above grade plane.
The permanent certificate shall be completed and posted on or in the electrical distribution panel by the builder or registered design professional. The certificate shall not cover or obstruct the visibility of the circuit directory label, service disconnect label or other required labels.
The certificate shall list:
- Predominant R-values of insulation
- U-factors for fenestration
- The solar heat gain coefficient (SHGC) of fenestration
- Types and efficiencies of heating, cooling and service water heating equipment
For the 2009 and subsequent editions of the IECC and IRC, the certificate shall indicate if any of the following are installed but shall not list an efficiency:
- Gas-fired unvented room heater
- Electric furnace
- Baseboard electric heater
For the 2012 and subsequent editions of the IECC and IRC, the certificate shall indicate the results from any required duct system and building envelope air leakage testing done on the building.
