It addresses both residential and commercial provisions. Particular emphasis is placed on definitions, thermal envelope, fenestration and daylighting, lighting power densities and controls, mechanical systems, compliance options, additional efficiency requirements and existing buildings.

The Companion’s 17 study sessions provide practical learning assignments and contain specific learning objectives, applicable code text and commentary, and a list of questions summarizing key points for study.
