This self-paced online training addresses numerous provisions in the 2018 Saudi Building Code (SBC 201) where the code contains requirements pertaining to establishing a means of egress in buildings. The course is intended to help engineers, building designers, and building code officials responsible for plan review identify those areas where the design will include compliance with the SBC 201. During this training, participants will listen to lecture and view examples, as well as discuss sections of the IBC that pertain to means of egress.

  • Identify the scope and application of SBC 801/201 Chapter 9.
  • Explain the role of fire areas and levels of exit discharge that affect fire sprinkler requirements. 
  • Modify fire area sizes to limit fire sprinkler requirements. 
  • Identify NFPA standards for fire protection system and equipment designs to comply with SBC 801/201 Chapter 9. 
  • Demonstrate application of SBC 801/201 Chapter 9 requirements to sample buildings, facilities and occupancies.
