Take the next step to becoming an IECC/HERS Compliance Specialist! This pre-conference training is built around the residential provisions of the 2024 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC®) and is designed to prepare you to earn ICC’s Residential Energy Inspector/Plans Examiner Certification (79). This course provides a thorough understanding of the IECC by guiding students through the essential components of each chapter. Topics include the history and future of energy codes, administration and documentation requirements, compliance options, and specific thermal envelope and systems provisions. Students will also learn how the IECC relates to existing buildings and about the expanded appendices of the 2024 IECC.

The IECC/HERS Compliance Specialist designation combines the energy code enforcement knowledge of code officials with the energy efficiency expertise of HERS Raters to identify experts in energy plan review and inspection. These certified specialists can supplement the work of jurisdictions facing resource constraints that affect their ability to conduct necessary reviews.
