Discussed in the report are heretofore unexplored aspects of the multi-period, soil-modified design spectra introduced in ASSCE-722, the results of which may be more buildings of limited ductility on soft soil in Central and Eastern United States. The report ends with a resolution that has recently been worked out, which would result in limited changes to Seismic Design Category assignment but make these buildings of limited ductility stronger thereby making collapse in the maximum considered earthquake of ASCE 7-22 less likely.
