This introduces the flood design requirements found within the 2024 I-codes. The session begins with a review of floodplain basics and the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) along with its corresponding provisions in the IBC. This session then provides and overview of the various flood zones and their respective design and plan review requirements found within the 2024 IBC, ASCE 7-22, and ASCE 24-14. Goals & Objectives: This course increases awareness on when and where storm shelters are required along with the requirements found within the ICC 500-23 regarding the minimum design and construction of storm shelters.
