In a one-of-a-kind program, the Lancaster California Police Department paired an experienced building inspector with an ex-code enforcement officer turned investigator and assigned the duo to combat the deleterious effects of illegal indoor cannabis cultivation. In this training, the two will present an introduction to the building damage and hazardous conditions associated with illicit indoor cannabis cultivation in single family dwellings. Participants will be taught how indoor environmental conditions, growing techniques, pesticide and fertilizer use impact the building. This presentation will also discuss the long-term effects of excessive moisture mold growth, chemical contamination and fire hazards that arise from illegal indoor grows if not properly remediated. The presentation will also include some safety considerations for inspectors. This training is essential for protecting public safety, maintaining the integrity of local building standards and preserving safe and healthy housing in areas impacted by illegal indoor cannabis cultivation.
