Cold-Formed Steel Lateral Design Provisions
Cold-formed steel (CFS) construction has gained in popularity and many tools have been developed and enhanced over the years to assist the designer including design guides, code provisions, specifications, standards and, of course, computer software. This presentation briefly discusses CFS codes, standards and design guides as well as CFS connections including weld, bolt, and screw connections. The majority of this presentation is an exploration of CFS framed diaphragms and shear wall lateral load resisting systems, which are addressed by the AISI Lateral Design Standard (S213).
