This specification covers aluminum and aluminum-alloy drawn seamless tubes in straight lengths and coils for general purpose and pressure applications. The tube shall be produced by drawing an extruded tube made from hollow extrusion ingot (cast in hollow form or pierced) and extruded by the -use of the die and mandrel method. Tensile properties of the tubes such as tensile strength, yield strength, and elongation shall be determined. The specimens shall be subjected to mechanical tests such as flattening test, flare test, and bend test. The tempers shall be subjected to heat treatment and the tubes shall be tested for leaks by pneumatic and eddy-current methods.
This standard is referenced in the 2012 International Fuel Gas Code®.
