AC60 establishes guidelines for evaluation of alternative anchors in unreinforced masonry elements. This criteria is limited to adhesively bonded anchors used to attach building components to unreinforced masonry walls. The anchors strengthen the walls to resist short-term loads imposed by wind and earthquake and are limited to three applications: (1) embedded bent anchors resisting tension and shear loads; (2) embedded anchors resisting shear loads; and (3) through-wall anchors resisting tension and shear loads.
