This training provides an overview of the HVAC industry transition from HFC refrigerants to A2L refrigerants within the built environment. Topics addressed include Federal regulations that are driving the use of A2L refrigerants, the timeline for the phasedown of HFC refrigerants, the impacts on the latest codes and standards, and ways to adapt and prepare for the transition to A2L refrigerants. Participants will be able to identify essential code concepts that have been modified between the 2018 and 2024 IMC, IBC, IFC and IRC that address the safe use of A2L refrigerants. They will have a better understanding of the provisions found in the 2024 IMC, IBC, IFC and IRC as they apply to design, plan submittals and/or inspection.
