2027 International Plumbing Code®

Plumbing systems installations and continuing throughout the life of a building. Establishes minimum requirements for plumbing and related piping systems to protect health, safety, property, and welfare through proper design, installation, and operations.

The 2027 IPC® provides minimum regulations for plumbing facilities and allows for the acceptance of new and innovative products, materials, and systems. Plumbing and plumbing fixture related accessibility provisions and requirements from the ICC A117.1 Accessibility Standard are also included, making the IPC the most comprehensive plumbing code. • Improved features for identifying changes by using both marginal markings and QR Codes for print and PDF formats (Digital Codes show changes in color)
• Full color vector images in digital format of the codes in the ICC digital codes platform
• Code section number changes from 2024 are shown in relocation tables accessed online, and by QR Codes in the printed editions
• AltText of figures for screen readers for the visually impaired persons

Important changes in the 2027 IPC include:

• The required conductor size for plastic sewer pipe tracer wire has been reduced and the tracer wire insulation color has been specified.
• Minimum restroom fixture counts for pools, spas and recreational facilities are now based on a higher occupancy load.
• Consistent requirements added for the design, installation, and waste connections of assistive tables with reference to the applicable standard.
• Temperature and pressure relief valves have been revised.
• Pressure reduction devices (PPRDs) location and use have been added for specific cases.
