2027 International Plumbing Code®
Plumbing systems installations and continuing throughout the life of a building. Establishes minimum requirements for plumbing and related piping systems to protect health, safety, property, and welfare through proper design, installation, and operations.
The 2027 IPC® provides minimum regulations for plumbing facilities and allows for the acceptance of new and innovative products, materials, and systems. Plumbing and plumbing fixture related accessibility provisions and requirements from the ICC A117.1 Accessibility Standard are also included, making the IPC the most comprehensive plumbing code. For the most current adoptions details go to International Code Adoptions.
Important changes in the 2027 IPC include:
- The required conductor size for plastic sewer pipe tracer wire is reduced from 14 AWG to 18 AWG and the tracer wire insulation must be green.
- Minimum restroom fixture counts for pools, spas and recreational facilities are now based on a higher occupancy load than assembly spaces.
- Consistent requirements added for the design, installation, and waste connections of assistive tables with reference IAPMO Z1390.
- Temperature and pressure relief valves are required for storage type water heaters but generally not for tankless units, except when specified by the manufacturer’s installation instructions.
- Pressure reduction devices (PPRDs) are permitted to serve as a relief vent for the stack drainage system when the PPRDs are located no greater than six (6) branch intervals apart.
