2027 International Fuel Gas Code®

Fuel Gas systems installations and continuing throughout the life of a building Provides minimum requirements for fuel-gas piping, appliances, gaseous hydrogen systems, and accessories to promote safe installation and operations.

The 2027 IFGC® addresses the design and installation of fuel gas systems and gas fired appliances through prescriptive and performance requirements.

Key changes in the 2027 IFGC® include:

• Appliances using natural gas with hydrogen admixtures are addressed.
• Return air may be taken from some specific indoor areas.
• Maximum gas demand is clarified by separately stating that sizing is based on load diversity factors and interlocked appliances may be sized for the largest load of the appliances that can run simultaneously.
• Requirements for pressure testing pipes and joints are updated to match current industry practice. Table 308.2, Reduction of Clearances, is updated to state that any clearance greater than the minimum listed in the table is acceptable, and that any thickness greater than listed in the table is also acceptable.
