This course will focus on the major changes and their effects on design, construction, operations and inspection requirements.

Course Objectives

  • Identify and discuss the key changes between the 2021 IFC and the 2024 IFC, specifically to building, energy, mechanical, fuel gas, plumbing and electrical requirements and provisions.
  • Identify the applicability of design, plan review and inspection requirements so that participants can apply and use the code appropriately.
  • Identify changes in organization and code requirements, including if the change is an Addition (new provision to code), Deletion (removal of a code provision), Modification (a modified provision), or a Clarification (a more detailed provision) to the 2021 IFC code.
  • Apply the code in clear-cut situations and build their understanding of the intent of the code when asked to make compliance decisions.
