This self-paced, online course is a stand-alone course, but can also be used as part of the Credential of Learning Achievement program and it will provide an overview of the key information in the 2018 International Swimming Pool & Spa Code (ISPSC) as well as the technical information recommended for plan review and field inspections for new construction and remodeling. Learners will explore the compliance of standard requirements for pool and spa safety features such as enclosures, latching, diving boards, suction protection, equipment design, installation, functionality, sanitation, and disposal.

The course will Identify the safety hazards that are often faced in the profession and how to avoid them and will provide detailed instructions on how to design, plan review and inspect a safe hydraulic system and identify the required documentation that must be submitted to a building department in order to obtain a pool permit and will also offer guidelines about how to recognize a safe hydraulic design as well as the required data and documentation that must be submitted in order to approve a residential pool permit. Included is also information for inspectors and plan reviewers as to how to recognize a safe hydraulic design and the information that should be supplied in order to approve a commercial pool permit.

The contents of this course have been developed in partnership with the Pool and Hot Tub Alliance (PHTA).

Credential of Learning Achievement (CLA) Once completed, this course can be applied towards a Credential of Learning Achievement. The CLA goes beyond traditional training in its measurement of comprehension on the subject matter. It validates the participants willingness to go the extra mile in training and career advancement. The CLA differs from Code Council certifications and education because there is the required components of training/education and assessment on a specific subject matter, it is a different method of obtaining a valuable ICC Credential based on training and testing. If you are interested in applying this course to the CLA program, go to your MyICC and select Credentials in the left menu, then click the CLA tab. You will be given the option to select the Swimming Pool and Spa CLA.
