Register today to secure your spot in the B1 Residential Building Inspector Certification Test Academy! The residential building inspector test academy is designed to assist you with taking the B1 certification exam. The test academy will cover in detail the topics of the exam. Throughout the academy you will be given an opportunity to answer questions that reference the exam resources. The topics that will be covered: code administration; building planning; footings and foundation; floor construction; wall construction and coverings; roof/ceiling construction and public safety and special construction of the residential building inspector certification exam.

Meals: Continental Breakfast and Lunch will be included.

Attendees will earn 2.1 CEUs from ICC for participating in the three and a half days of training. These CEUs may be applied toward renewal of certifications issued by ICC.

Certification Exam: ICC is offering an Academy that provides information and the opportunity to study for and take the B1 Residential Building Inspector certification exam. You will be testing on the afternoon of Friday, July 14, 2017.

Required References: Please note the following references are required and needed to successfully complete the training and can be used during the Certification Exam.

Cancellation Policy:

All cancellation requests must be received in writing in order to receive a refund. Refunds are subject to a processing fee of $75*. There will be NO REFUNDS for cancellations received less than two calendar weeks prior to the scheduled training event.

International Code Council reserves the right to cancel any training event having insufficient registrations. If that occurs, all prepaid fees will be refunded in full. International Code Council cannot be responsible for any losses resulting from the cancellation of a training event.

John is a Technical Advisor and Instructor for the International Code Council (ICC). A certified Master Code Professional and Certified Fire Marshal; he has forty (40) other certifications, including thirty-three (33) from the ICC. Having earned a B.S. in Engineering from the University of Delaware, he has also studied Architecture at Georgia Tech and completed courses in Emergency Management and Fire Prevention at the National Emergency Training Center. Formerly the Director of the Department of Permits and Inspections for Frederick County Maryland, he is an ICC Honorary Member, has served on the ICC- Evaluations Services (ICC-ES) Board of Directors, the ICC Code Correlating Committee, the Board of Directors for BOCA International, Inc., Maryland’s Governor’s Smart Code Strategy Group, Chaired the ICC Board for International Professional Standards and is an Honorary Member and Past President of the Maryland Building Officials Association. He currently teaches ICC administrative, building, residential, existing building, property maintenance, zoning, green building, wildland/urban interface, energy courses, and is a contract instructor at the Dept. of Homeland Security, United States Fire Administration, National Fire Academy, and Emmitsburg, MD. He received the ICC Educator of the Year award in 2010.

Steve Van Note

Steve Van Note is the Managing Director of Product Development for the International Code Council (ICC), where he is responsible for developing technical resource materials in support of the International Codes. His role also includes the management, review, and technical editing of publications developed by expert authors. In addition, Steve develops and presents International Residential Code seminars nationally. Prior to joining ICC in 2006, Steve was building official for Linn County, Iowa. He has 15 years of experience in code administration and enforcement, and over 20 years of experience in the construction field, including project planning and management for residential, commercial, and industrial buildings. A certified building official and plans examiner, Steve also holds certifications in several inspection categories.
